“Jam Power” Officially Announced
The official announcement for Stevie Salas' new cover album "Jam Power" has been posted on B'z Official Website. As we previously reported, it's going to be released on October 20th, 2010 priced at 2500 Yen in Japan. It looks like it is going to be available internationally as well, since the Japanese edition contains a bonus track which is exclusive to Japan. Koshi Inaba is going to be the lead vocalist on the track "Police on my back" which was originally recorded by the band The Clash.
Also, as posted on HMV.co.jp in the song credits, there's a story associated with it:
After I had dinner with Koshi Inaba in Beverly Hills, we went back to his place in my car. When I switched on the radio a song by The Clash was playing and Koshi really had to turn up the volume as he enjoyed the song. One year later, while we were in the car again, a song by The Clash was playing on the radio. Seeing how Koshi was singing along to the song hitting all the notes and getting the lyrics right, he told me he's a great fan of them! So when we went to record for "JAM POWER", I asked him if he could sing a song from The Clash. "In English?" he asked. "Yeah" I replied. Then I checked out a bunch of my favorite Clash tunes to find the one I liked best. As you all know I'm a big fan of funk, so I gave "This Is Radio Clash" a try, but Koshi's voice was not suited for such a song.
When I met Koshi in Hawaii again, we were barbecuing steaks and once we listened to "Police On My Back", we said "This is it!!" When I was in high school in San Diego, the band I was in performed that song numerous times, so I knew the song quite well. After Jara Slapbak added the funky style to the rhythm track, I flew over to Tokyo to record the vocals with Koshi. When I came back to LA, King's X singer Doug Pinnick sang the chorus for the song and, with that, polished it.

Larry Carlton & Tak Matsumoto “TAKE YOUR PICK” 6/2 OUT!!
This is what we've all been waiting for! Larry Carlton and Tak Matsumoto have announced today, that their collaboration album, "TAKE YOUR PICK", is going to be released in Japan on June 2nd, 2010. It's going retail at a price of 3,059 Yen (approx. $32 / 24€).
While this is a pretty hefty price tag for an album that doesn't contain additional content such as a DVD, I'm sure we'll all forget about the price once we get to listen to all 12 quality tracks, half of them arranged and written by Tak Matsumoto, half of them arranged and written by Larry Carlton. Seeing as how the album is evenly split among songs by Tak Matsumoto and Larry Carlton, "TAKE YOUR PICK" seems as fitting for such an album as a title will ever be. Die-hard fans would even say that this album is the compilation of the best music from the west, and the best music from the far east. Larry Carlton's style is pretty bluesy, too, and thus it was only a matter of time until these two great musicians met.
Taking a look at the cover of this album, it becomes clear that this is indeed a mixture of American music and Japanese music, illustrated by 2 guitar picks with their respective national flags on it. It has got a lot of meaning to it, if you closely analyze the cover. It is very simplistic and yet gets the message across. A lot of cover artists fail to do so nowadays.
The track listing, no doubt, reveals a very blues, jazz oriented album, that, I bet, does not fail to have the fan listen to the best of the best, when it comes to Larry Carlton's works as well as Tak Matsumoto's works.
Overseas fans, unfortunately, will probably have to wait a little longer to get their hands on this masterpiece as this press release by Larry Carlton & Tak Matsumoto does not illustrate whether the album will be internationally available, or not. Stay tuned for more news!

BURN -Fumetsu no Face- Promotional Car Rolling Out in Tokyo?
According to this blog, a promotional car with the BURN -Fumetsu no Face- cover printed on it will roll out in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area on the day the single is released. The entry on the blog further notes that KOSE is also promoting by broadcasting their commercial (which features BURN -Fumetsu no Face-) on TV and showing them on monitors in stores. Nonetheless, it is a rare to see a promotional car being rolled out for publicity purposes. One way or the other, it will offer considerable publicity to KOSE's new products.
We may get pictures of the car on the day of the release.
Stay tuned for more!
