Matsumoto Recording in LA
Yoshimi Yuko tweets that she congatulated Tak Matsumoto for the Grammy Award he received on sunday. Matsumoto then went on and replied: "Thank you. Yesterday has been a long day, but it is a day I will not forget for the rest of my life." Now here is the important part: "Right now I'm in the middle of recording in our studio in LA"
Looks like B'z is heavily working on a new album for this year. According to a tweet by Masuda Takanobu, the new single should be out during the cherry blossom season, which begins around end of March. Expect some announcements to be made soon!

Kimono For The Grammys
One person, namely Kahori Yamagata, was entrusted with designing a kimono for the family members of a Japanese person who has been nominated for the Grammys. Who might that person be? Of course, everyone can figure from these pictures, that it has to be Tak Matsumoto. Any Tak fan would recognize this emblem. The kimono contains platinum features which makes it look really, really great.
One more day to go!!
Matsumoto Attending Grammys
This week's sunday might become a great day in his career. Whose career you might ask? Well of course we are talking about guitar virtuoso and B'z founder Tak Matsumoto. The album he created with Larry Carlton, entitled "TAKE YOUR PICK", was previously nominated for the Grammys in the category "Best Pop Instrumental Album".
Indications have surfaced on the internet that Tak Matsumoto will attend the Grammy Awards 2010 with his wife. According to a tweet by "Chiyo Hiraoka" (*Update: looks like the tweet was deleted by her) - a singer and songwriter - she picked a suitable head accessory for Tak Matsumoto's wife for the occasion. Also, X JAPAN's YOSHIKI stated in a recent report "Ah, I have to attend the Grammy Awards this weekend. I voted for Tak Matsumoto."
I hope you are all looking forward to seeing Tak Matsumoto on sunday! I personally am going to watch it on TV and will update you as soon as there is news about Tak Matsumoto. Also, I might get to record the show, should there be a speech.
Best of luck to Mr. Matsumoto and Mr. Carlton!
Tak Matsumoto Special Guest at Mari Hamada Concert
So... I wanted to see Tak Matsumoto playing with Mari Hamada again. So I looked for the old video of his performance of BLUE REVOLUTION which dates back to before B'z debuted. What did I find? Well... apparently Tak Matsumoto came up as a special guest in Mari Hamada's 2010 "Aestetica" tour 25th Anniversary tour "On the wing" which was released on DVD on April 15th, 2009. Good to see the old duo together again for a song. Enjoy!
And here's the video I was originally looking for... from 1987. You can see Tak doing his solo at around 2:30.

“TAKE YOUR PICK” Receives Golden Disc Award
Larry Carlton's and Tak Matsumoto's jazz album "TAKE YOUR PICK" has received the Japanese Golden Disc Award for "Jazz Album of the Year" at the 25th Annual Golden Disc Awards in Japan. This again shows the great reception for Larry's and Tak's work, which, compared to Koshi Inaba's solo work, didn't receive much credit from B'z fans. Despite the fact that the TAKE YOUR PICK tour was completely sold out, the album itself didn't sell too well in Japan, but received great reviews from jazz critics from all over the world.
Another great achievement for Larry and Tak would be, if they were awarded with a Grammy for their solo work. We shall see how it goes, when the winners are announced on February 13 at the annual Grammy Awards.

“TAKE YOUR PICK” Nominated For “Best Pop Instrumental Album”
Yesterday, the nominations for the Grammy Awards 2010 have been announced by the committee. Larry Carlton's and Tak Matsumoto's "TAKE YOUR PICK" has been nominated in the category "Best Pop Instrumental Album". Also nominated in the same category are Gerald Albright, Kenny G, Robby Krieger and Kirk Whalum.
The results will be announced at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards on February 13, 2011. If Larry Carlton and Tak Matsumoto received the award, Tak Matsumoto would get his first Grammy Award for one of his solo works.
