Kim Hyun-joong To Release Collaboration Single With B’z On July 4th

May 1st’s morning papers are reporting a very interesting bit of news: K-Pop singer Kim Hyun-joong is going to collaborate with B’z on his new single “HEAT”. Said single is going to be released on July 4th, 2012. Kim Hyun-joong became known as leader of the Korean boyband SS501 and has started a career as a solo artist last year, releasing his debut solo mini album Break Down on June 8, 2011.

As for the song itself, Tak provided the guitar work for the piece and Koshi provided the lyrics for the song. The two can even be heard on the track itself: Tak is supporting on guitar and Koshi is doing the vocals for the chorus!

This news has angered a considerable amount of Japanese B’z fans as they are disappointed by the band. If B’z was collaborate with another band, it should be a high profile one. B’z has played with Aerosmith, Linkin Park and Steve Vai in the past. Now a K-Pop singer? We’ll see what else this year has in store for us!

Stay tuned!

UPDATE 5/1:
Apparently I have made a huge mistake here. I didn’t think there would be a Kim Hyun-joong and a Kim Hyung Jun in the same boyband. And that there would be a difference. haha I apologize for the confusion this has caused.

So sales will be probably quite high because of collaboration with B’z… I don’t support K-Pop in Japan and I know that many Japanese are also against, so B’z have made a risky step which I hoped was a gossip xP Now I wonder how this brat has gained it.

  2. ErreFan says:

so this song is gonna be either Japanese or English?

    1. Tobias says:

Interesting question. While the article doesn’t give that away, I would assume it’s Japanese.

    2. Chi says:

It can be Japanese, since Inaba-san writes the lyrics

      1. Chi says:

It’s not the obligation of course XD But it seems to be a Japanese single

I’m keeping an open mind. I don’t listen to K-pop at all, but it is up to B’z on who they want to collaborate with. Who knows? The person itself may have made an impression on them, not the music, and this is a sort of friendly gesture to the artist, at the same time emphasizing that B’z is intent on reaching out to the rest of the world.

You say risky move, I say interesting move. This B’z fan is curious as to where this will lead. 🙂

    I have to say that I hate K-pop= =

I have to say that, myself, have nothing against K-Pop and with this K-Pop band/singer’s Japanese single with B’z. I’m pretty sure that it’ll be rather succesful never-the-less.

Oh and, I’m pretty sure the single will be in Japanese since koshi wrote the lyrics @Sherrynano . So, in definition, this’ll be a JPop single.

Well, actually I just dislike things that are related to Korea…just like many Chinese young people do= =
In spite of this,I’m not that disappointed since Kim is said to be a B’z fan who has all their CDs.= =
Now I’m curious to know how will this song be.Maybe Kim’s voice will be totally covered by 178’s.XD

    1. Paul says:

”sherrynano” you are very annoying and racist!
Why the hate for Korea? Korea never did anything bad to China,
You should study history between China and Japan, before saying you dislike Korea!

      1. sherrynano says:

The reason is something about traditional culture.I can’t explain it clearly owing to my poor English…
I think you may understand me in some way if you are a Chinese yourself-,-
        Terribly sorry for annoying you.= =If only I hadn’t said these words…

it seems kind of silly to me that supposed B’z fans are upset that this kid isn’t high profile enough, especially since Linkin Park hasn’t been relevant in years and Steve Vai’s only ever been well-known amongst people who are either guitar players or are into listening to technical guitar stuff. i have to wonder if that when they say ‘high profile,’ they mean ‘western.’

don’t get me wrong, people aren’t obligated to be excited for this if they’re not into k-pop or whatever, i just think that railing against B’z for collaborating with someone who’s not a big enough act is kind of ridiculous.
