BEING Doubles Sales Thanks To B’z

News

Today, Oricon has announced the sales for the year 2013 per music label. AVEX Group Holdings is now holding first place for two years in a row. Followed by Sony Music Entertainment on 2nd place and Universal Music on 3rd place. What’s interesting is that the BEING Group, to which Vermillion Records belongs, has more than doubled their sales due to releasing B’z live DVDs and Blu-rays as well as the XXV best-of releases, putting them in 10th place compared to last year’s 17th place.

B’z began their careers with BMG Japan and operated under several of their labels. Later, B’z would leave BMG to form their own label, Vermillion Records, as part of Being GIZA. Publication rights to the band’s original four releases (the self-titled debut album, OFF THE LOCK, BAD COMMUNICATION, and BREAK THROUGH) remained under BMG control with the label switch, leading to recordings from that era ineligible to be included on compilations until an agreement was finally reached in time for the band’s 25th anniversary single collections, B’z The Best XXV 1988-1998 and B’z The Best XXV 1999-2012.

It’s been a long time coming, but the band’s 25th anniversary campaign is officially underway! Their latest compilations, B’z The Best XXV 1988-1998 and B’z The Best XXV 1999-2012, are finally on store shelves and offer unprecedented value!

Here we have, for the first time, all 50 singles the band has released, along with four new tracks split across the two releases. The biggest draw, of course, is that the limited editions include all of the music videos for the included singles–all remastered, all in superb high quality, and almost all coming to home video for the very first time! In addition, the two collections come with two new music videos for two of the new songs. And, best of all, being the generous duo they are, you can sample all of the music videos, including those for the new songs, on their official YouTube channel! (Be sure not to miss the short videos for new songs “Kakushin” and “Utopia“, which are exclusive to the YouTube channel!)

Of course, given that most fans will be especially curious about the new songs, we’ve wasted no time in having them all translated for you:

And, as always, you can check out translations for all other 50 songs included on the Lyrics & Translations page on the B’z Wiki!

B’z have a very busy summer ahead with stops all over Japan for B’z LIVE-GYM Pleasure 2013 -ENDLESS SUMMER-, but you can be part of the hype right now by checking out the collections below! Both are available worldwide on CDJapan and YesAsia!

Detective Conan
And the tie-in madness continues! B’z has just announced that their new song “Q&A”—which is set to be released as part of the B’z The Best XXV 1999-2012 compilation—will be the new opening theme to the anime series “Detective Conan” starting May 4th. The band has supplied opening and ending themes as well as movie themes for Detective Conan in the past. The last opening theme B’z has supplied was “Don’t Wanna Lie” in 2011, which was also featured as the theme song for the Detective Conan movie that was released that year.
