It has just been announced that in two weeks, on Christmas Day, B’z will be performing on CDTV Special! Christmas Music Festival 2017. The nearly four-hour program will feature a variety of artists including not only B’z but BoA, Kana Nishino, and Back Number with more to be announced soon. The band will be showcasing their seminal Christmas classic “Itsuka no Merry Christmas” and recent single “Still Alive“.
The seasonal classic has been performed on television numerous times in the past—its last televised showing coming in 2005—and may be looking at an inclusion on this month’s B’z LIVE-GYM 2017-2018 “LIVE DINOSAUR”.
Along with a litany of radio promotions surrounding the release, B’z will soon make another festival-sized live appearance at FM802 ROCK FESTIVAL RADIO CRAZY 2017 on December 28. The two day event will see B’z performing on the first day alongside Alexandros, 9mm Parabellum Bullet, Monoeyes, and back number amongst several others.
The show will take place at the 72,978 square meter INTEX Osaka exhibition center. It is currently unknown whether the show will be broadcast on television or radio in any form.
The second of two premium live concerts held as part of a 7-Eleven promotion has just wrapped in Japan. The show, which took place at the newly-minted Zepp Osaka Bayside, was identical to Tuesday’s appearance—with one older single making its first appearance since 2012! Also, two songs switched places in the setlist.
To avoid potential B’z LIVE-GYM 2017-2018 “LIVE DINOSAUR” spoilers for for those attending, we have preserved the full setlist after the break.
The latest B’z studio album DINOSAUR, released just last week, has ranked in at first on the Weekly Oricon Albums chart. The final sales tally proved to exceed expectations with 201,358 physical copies sold—only a four percent decrease from the results garnered by 2015’s EPIC DAY. Initial estimates had the album moving under 200,000 copies due to an industry-wide decline in physical sales for non-idol acts.
This is the seventeenth consecutive B’z studio album to premiere at the top spot on the Oricon chart. Including albums of all sorts, it is their twenty-eighth entry to top the charts.
The album will be made available digitally on Japanese storefronts in the near future.
